During cooking time, it is preferable to plunge the cabbage while the water is boiling only. Cook them for a short period of time (shredded cabbages for 3 to 8 minutes, quarter pieces for 12 to 15 minutes.)

Braised Green Cabbage

  • 1 GNC green cabbage, finely sliced
  • 30 ml of butter or margarine
  • 30ml of molasses
  • 2 peeled, cored, and sliced apples
  • 1 chopped onion
  • ½ lemon juice
  • 125 ml of white wine or vinegar
  • Salt and pepper

Stir GNC cabbage in butter over medium heat for 4 to 5 minutes. Keep stirring and gradually add molasses. Add the rest of the ingredients and seasonings. Let simmer for approximately 50 minutes and stir a couple times. Serve hot!

Tips & Facts Express

Many aromatic herbs can be used to season green cabbages just perfectly such as caraway, celery seeds, cumin, curry, fennel and mustard seeds. The cabbage, similar to other members of the Brassica family, seems to be effective in some cancer preventions. Moreover, it is a strong antioxidant and contains Vitamin C, folic acid, potassium, and vitamin B6.
